Children are born ready to learn. Yet every year, far too many children start school already behind their peers, making it ever harder for them to catch up. The goal of Khan Academy Kids is to close that gap so that every child is ready to start school. Designed for children ages two to seven, Khan Academy Kids is our award-winning app full of thousands of educational activities, books, songs, and games to help children learn both academic—letters and counting—and emotional—sharing, managing feelings—skills.
2019 was the first full year the app was available for download, and Khan Academy Kids has taken off like a runaway toddler.

Professor David Arnold at the University of Massachusetts tested the impact of using Khan Academy Kids to increase pre-literacy skills in 4 and 5 year olds from low-income households. In a small randomized trial of children using Khan Academy Kids or other age-appropriate apps for 10 weeks he found that:
“Children who used the Khan Academy Kids app showed substantial and statistically significant increases in their preliteracy skills compared to children provided with age-appropriate apps not targeting these skills.”David Arnold
